Established by founding partners Victoria Meyers & Thomas Hanrahan in 1987, hanrahanMeyers architects are internationally recognized for distinctive design. The firm’s institutional and residential projects are direct responses to place. We collaborate with clients to produce award-winning designs featured at the Museum of Modern Art, the Houses of Sagaponac, and in publications worldwide. Our clients enjoy modern style, and have access to the firm’s resources including custom interiors, sustainable design, and unique spatial design integrating landscape and dwelling. We integrate architecture, interiors, lighting and landscape through a friendly and collaborative process involving artisans, design engineers, and the construction team.

- What professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

hMa’s work has received wide critical acclaim. The AIA NYChapter has given hMa twenty-two design awards. hMa has also been honored with six PA Design Awards, as well as MIT’s McDermitt Award for Design Excellence, and an Award for Design Excellence for Hunts Point Community Center. hMa were also recently the architects for a house at The houses of Sagaponac development in Sagaponack, New York.

Design is a frame to Nature. hMa’s unique design philosophy emphasizes Nature, offering an alternative to artificial environments.
- Would you say you have a certain style?

We are committed to Green Design. In 1987, we gained national recognition with winning design for the Chattanooga Nature Interpretive Center. We give 2% of our firm’s profits to Nature Conservation groups as an offset to the firm’s construction projects.
- What design trends are most interesting to you?

hMa recently produced a book on light, Designing with Light published in April 2006. Designing with Light is the first in a series of books that will document hMa’s research into natural phenomena. Future titles include Shape of Sound and Atmospheres.
