Project Details
Sited on an exclusive private island off the southern coast of North Carolina, this grand home features a lot of rounded balconies and balustrades, towers and cupolas, and a gracious curved staircase. Previously decorated in the formality of another era, the homeowners wanted something less foreboding. To achieve this, the designers paired off antiques with contemporary elements, playing off the classical elements of the architecture. Fabrics are luxurious and free of excessive patterns, and there is a focus on comfort and liveability. Pompous and stuffy was replaced with fresh and chic, lines were kept simple, and tradition tempered with clean lines to emphasize nature’s beauty outside.
