Project Details
Located in the Arcadia district of Phoenix, an area
characterized by citrus grove plantations, and now
predominately a residential neighborhood, the existing house was a typical 1950’s, low ceiling, slump block adobe house. The owners, with six children, wanted to add to the existing house and to bring natural light into the structure.
The site, unlike the typical dry desert landscape of Phoenix, had a lush, fertile Mediterranean feel to it. Large trees, grass and its remote setback from the street gave the house a sense of privacy and resort like atmosphere. The concept was to create a series of additions to the house that opened it out to the garden making use of the temperate climate and blurring the boundaries of indoor and outdoor living by fully opening it up to the new pool and spa.
